Rules and Instructions

STEPS FOR FILLING OUT BRACKET

Please make sure you follow these instructions carefully, and complete the steps in order. The following 3 steps MUST be completed by June 14th at 3pm EST, a full day before the first game kicks off. If there are any issues at all, feel free to shoot a text to 617-416-9139. In addition the $30 must be Venmoed to Inspire Transformation (@IT-Jeffrie-Parrish) or Nathan Jewett-Wolf (@Nathan-Jewett-Wolf) by 3pm on July 20th. IF THE ENTRY FEE IS NOT RECEIVED BY 6/14/24 @ 3pm (kickoff of opening game) THE ENTRY WILL BE TERMINATED.

STEP 1: FIND YOUR TAB At the bottom of the window, click on the tab that has your name on it. Note that there are multiple tabs at the bottom of the window with the other contestant's brackets, (in addition to the "instructions" tab you're currently on, a "leaderboards" tab, and a "live results" tab. All tabs are VISIBLE to everyone, but only YOU have access to edit the teams in your individual tab. These "steps for filling out bracket" have also been copied into your tab underneath the bracket, so you don't have to flip back and forth between tabs, but other "important information" (see below) is still in this instructions tab. NOTE THAT THERE IS BOTH A EURO BRACKET AND A COPA AMERICA BRACKET. MAKE SURE TO FILL OUT BOTH. Now that you are looking within your own tab, notice that there are some cells that are highlighted green. These are the only cells for which you will need to enter anything (all non-green cells are locked anyway). Also notice that all green cells are drop down lists. Click the little triangle on the right of the cell to see team options. NEVER actually type anything in the green cells. ALWAYS use the drop down list to select teams.

STEP 2: EURO GROUP STAGE CHART In the top left part of your tab (cells B3 through G6), you can begin filling out the "Group Stage Chart". The drop down lists in "Group A" are preloaded to only contain teams that are playing in Group A; same goes for all the other groups, so again, NO TYPING IS NEEDED. Just select teams from the drop down lists. Keep in mind that you are choosing the exact placement of each team (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) in their respective group. ***Note: Once you complete a cell, the cell is no longer highlighted green. This can help you figure out which cells you may need to still complete. Before moving on from this step, make sure all cells that say "Group A", "Group B", etc. are blue. A red cell means you've made an error in that group by listing a team twice.

STEP 3: RANKING OF EURO 3RD PLACE TEAMS Once you have completed the above "Group Stage Chart" portion (step 2), there is an intermediate step that must be completed before you can get to the actual bracket. The intermediate step is to fill out the chart to the right of the "Group Stage Chart" that has the header: "Ranking of Third Place Teams" (Cells I1 through J7). Because of the nature of the actual Euro tournament, only the top 4 teams in this chart will qualify for the "Knockout Stage". Again, the team selections in the "Ranking of Third Place Teams" drop down lists will be populated with whatever teams YOU SELECTED to finish 3rd in your "Group Stage Chart".

STEP 4: EURO BRACKET STAGE Once you have completed step 3, you can look at the "Bracket Stage" (the large bracket highlighted in light orange). All the Round of 16 matchups have been loaded with what your selections in the "Group Stage Chart" and the "Ranking of Third Place Teams" table are (in accordance with how the actual matchups will happen in real life). Now you can use the drop down list in the Quarterfinal portion of the bracket to select who will advance from each Round of 16 matchup. Again, the teams in the Quarterfinal drop down lists are limited to the teams that face each other in the prior Round of 16 matchup. Fill in the rest of the bracket choices all the way up to through the final matchup until you have selected a winner. You know you have completed your bracket when there are no longer any cells that are highlighted green and none of the "Group A", "Group B", etc. headers are highlighted red.

STEP 5: COPA AMERICA BRACKET Follow the same steps as you did for the Euro bracket. The only difference is that there is no ranking of third place group stage teams, and there IS a 3rd place championship game.

SCORING SYSTEM

Refer to the "Leaderboard" tab for the up to date scoring, that will auto update every time a real life round is completed. The leaderboards will be sorted top to bottom in order of total points AT THAT TIME, but keep in mind that it may not be an accurate reflection of the standings until each round (Group Stage, Quarterfinals, etc.) has been completed.

Please see below to understand how the scoring works in each round. If you think there has been some mistake, please double check your math. If you still think a mistake has been made, feel free to text 617-416-9139. It's unlikely, but always possible, that the there's a bug in the code.
